Coconut Shell Charcoal Briquette is a lightweight black carbon residue produced by strongly heating coconut shells in minimal oxygen to remove all water and volatile constituents. In the traditional version of this pyrolysis process, called charcoal burning, often by forming a charcoal kiln, the heat is supplied by burning part of the starting material itself, with a limited supply of oxygen. The material can also be heated in a closed retort machine.

The effectiveness of using briquettes as fuel should be taken into account because the level of heat produced by coconut shell charcoal briquettes is relatively high.  However, the smoke produced is very little, so it will not disturb the environment.  Furthermore, additional ingredient, tapioca flour derived from cassava, as an adhesive for the briquette dough makes coconut shell charcoal briquettes a safe and non-toxic material.
